The Five Counties Teaching School Hubs Alliance is a collaboration of three DfE appointed teaching school hubs. We cover Somerset, North Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Bath & North East Somerset (BANEs) which reaches more than 700 schools and settings in all phases.
What is a Visiting Fellow?
Visiting Fellows are integral to the success of the Early Career Framework (ECF) and the Early Career teacher (ECT) programme, as well as the new National Professional Qualification (NPQ) programmes. Visiting Fellows will work directly with ECTs and mentors to support and facilitate conferences, clinics, workshops and coaching sessions.
Visiting Fellows on the NPQ programmes will get the opportunity to work with aspiring leaders, supporting and facilitating online and in-person conferences and after school clinics.
What we are looking for
We are looking to grow our team, as we move into our second year and continue to expand our reach and engagement. We are seeking outstanding teachers and school leaders who are excellent trainers. This is to help in-person and online training for the ECT programmes for new teachers, their mentors, and the new suite of specialist and leadership NPQs.
We are particularly seeking individuals with experience from early years and special settings with links to schools within Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset, to add to the expertise and geographical breadth within our team. We are also looking to increase the diversity of our team, and welcome applications from a range of ethnicities and backgrounds to represent the wide range of schools, staff and pupils we serve.

The VF’s school is funded for your time preparing and delivering an event – or you could carry out this work on a day that you are not working in a school and be paid as a casual / self employed. You could be asked if you have capacity to deliver full-day or half day in-person conferences, a series of 1 or 2-hour clinics / online webinars, and / or work 1:1 online to coach or support a mentor. You are paid an agreed daily rate for your time working with us.
As a visiting fellow you will be given the opportunity to complete training to help you in your role to support new teachers and aspiring leaders. There is some mandatory training before you start delivering any programmes which are online and some induction with us so you know how things work.
