Mike Eatwell

Deputy Director, Cabot Learning Federation Institute

Mike is the Deputy Director of the CLF Institute and is one of the leads of the Five Counties Teaching School Hubs Alliance.

Mike has been in education for more than 30 years and has a breadth of experience in urban and rural schools, trusts and Local Authorities. Mike joined the CLF as Deputy Director in 2022.

His previous role was as Teaching School Hub Director for the Bristol Primary Teaching School Alliance, where he led ITT, CPD and city wide school to school support across the primary sector.  Prior to this he was a senior leader and then a headteacher in Bristol for a number of years, moving a challenging school from Special Measures to an Ofsted judgement of ‘Good’. He enjoys his work as a coach and is an experienced facilitator. He currently leads the hub’s visiting fellows team and facilitates the NPQH  and the NPQEL

Mike is particularly interested in the transformational impact that high quality professional development can have on an individual or setting in order that they can grow, flourish and improve as individuals and schools and as a result, impact positively on pupil outcomes.
