How to Apply

Key information – Autumn 2026 cohort

  • Programmes start: Early November 2026
  • Applications opened: 23rd June 2026
  • Applications close: September 2026
  • Next cohort if you miss this one: 2027–2028 academic year

Funded places are extremely limited and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Registering your interest early is the best way to maximise your chances of securing a funded place.

Submit the expression of interest form and we will send you an application link to apply.

You will also need to register on the DfE portal in addition to the Ambition form.

If you are interested in enrolling for one of our NPQ courses, please follow the 3 steps below to register for a place.

How to Apply

Decide which NPQ and your eligibility

  • Look at our website and decide which NPQ is best for you.  Are you eligible? Is your NPQ funded, or will you / your school need to pay for a place?
  • Agree with your head of school / setting or line manager that they are supportive of you undertaking your chosen NPQ: They will need to show their support as part of the application process
How to Apply

Apply using DFE Portal

  • Apply using the DFE NPQ Portal:  the application should be completed by you, not your school or setting.
  • You will need your Teacher Reference Number, your TRN. If you do not have a TRN, you will need one before applying.  Please follow instructions at the bottom of the page here.
How to Apply

Notify the Five Counties teaching School Hub

  • Complete the quick expression of interest form, to let us know that you are applying.  We will then notify Ambition Institute, who will send you an application form to complete to send electronically back to them. There will also be some checks and other agreements to complete before commencing the programme.  Once these have been processed, Five Counties will let you know more about the programme dates and organisation.
