New funding arrangements for NPQs beginning in Autumn 2024
Some NPQs are still fully funded for many for our Autumn 2024 cohorts!
New funding arrangements for NPQs –
The DfE have announced that NPQ funding from Autumn 2024 will be targeted to those teachers and leaders working in the most challenging schools or educational settings, serving more disadvantaged communities. Therefore, funding to cover the full NPQ cost will be available to teachers and leaders from the 50% of schools with the highest proportion of students who attract pupil premium funding and 16-19 educational settings identified as having high disadvantage. For the Early Years Leadership NPQ, highly disadvantaged early years settings will also be eligible.
Funding will continue, however, to be available to all teachers and leaders from publicly funded schools and 16-19 educational organisations for the following NPQs:
- Leading Primary Maths -NPQLPM
- SENCO – new NPQ for SENCOs
- Headship – NPQH
- Early Headship Coaching Offer – EHCO, for those in their first five years of headship.
For full details, visit Funding for national professional qualifications (NPQs) on the DfE website:
In summary, scholarship funding will still available to all individuals from state funded schools and settings wishing to study for the NPQLPM, the NPQ for SENCOs and the NPQH meaning these programmes continue to be free of charge for the autumn of 2024 cohort. In addition, all NPQs will be free for those in schools with the highest proportion of students who attract pupil premium funding – those schools above the median level. We will publlish a list of these schools when they are available.
Applications open in June for the autumn 24 cohort and close in early September 2024
