EAL – Bell Foundation: Adapting teaching for learners who use EAL in a secondary classroom
- This 90 minute twilight session will be delivered online by a trained and experienced Bell Foundation Lead Practitioner (BFLP).
- Designed for secondary school staff, this session provides guidance on how to adapt teaching in a responsive way to meet the language development needs of pupils who use EAL alongside curriculum learning.
- The session introduces a range of easy to use strategies that can be implemented immediately into teaching and learning without lowering expectations of the pupils.
- The content is relevant and will develop understanding for all members of staff within a secondary school setting, such as support staff, teachers and EAL leaders

The Bell Foundation are the UK’s leading body supporting the training and development of school staff in order to improve outcomes of pupils who use EAL. The Five Counties Teaching School Hubs Alliance have been designated as the South West’s Bell Foundation Centre of Expertise and have a number of trained Bell Foundation Lead Practitioners who are experts in their field. They are able to support schools and trusts to develop their provision for pupils who use EAL and to run online and face training through the Teaching School Hub.
