EAL – Bell Foundation: EAL Coordinators: Leading EAL in your school

This full day online course is for practitioners who are tasked with leading the EAL provision in their school, in a role such as ‘EAL coordinator’ or ‘EAL lead’. It is a highly practical course with participants expected to consider EAL provision in their own school.

This session is for both new and more experienced EAL Coordinators/ EAL Leads or those with responsibility for EAL in their school in primary and secondary school settings.

This online session will be delivered by a trained and experienced Bell Foundation Licensed Practitioner (BFLP).

In the session, participants will have the opportunity to:

• Explore roles and responsibilities in leading EAL;
• Understand EAL provision in your school, including key procedures such as an EAL policy; Admissions and inclusions; Assessment, target-setting and tracking;
• Explore the integration of EAL across the school, including: Collaborating with colleagues; Families and the wider community; A culture of inclusion and equity; Teaching and Learning based on the 5 key principles from the Bell Foundation.

You will need a laptop with a camera and a microphone to participate and engage in this interactive session.

The Bell Foundation are the UK’s leading body supporting the training and development of school staff in order to improve outcomes of pupils who use EAL. The Five Counties Teaching School Hubs Alliance have been designated as the South West’s Bell Foundation Centre of Expertise and have a number of trained Bell Foundation Licensed Practitioners who are experts in their field. They are able to support schools and trusts to develop their provision for pupils who use EAL and to run online and face training through the Teaching School Hub.
