EAL – Bell Foundation: Teaching Assistants: Working with Learners using EAL in a primary classroom

• This 120 minute online session will be delivered by a trained and experienced Bell Foundation Licensed Practitioner (BFLP).
• This session aims to familiarise teaching assistants and support staff with some of the challenges that learners using EAL might face when learning in English and learning through English at the same time.
• The session introduces practical, easy to use strategies for supporting learners using EAL to develop the language skills they need to access the curriculum and fulfil their potential.
• The programme is specially designed for teaching assistants and support staff in primary settings
• You will need a laptop with a camera and a microphone to participate and engage in this interactive session.

The Bell Foundation are the UK’s leading body supporting the training and development of school staff in order to improve outcomes of pupils who use EAL. The Five Counties Teaching School Hubs Alliance have been designated as the South West’s Bell Foundation Centre of Expertise and have a number of trained Bell Foundation Licensed Practitioners who are experts in their field. They are able to support schools and trusts to develop their provision for pupils who use EAL and to run online and face training through the Teaching School Hub.
