  • This 2 hour morning session will be delivered in person by a trained and experienced Bell Foundation Lead Practitioner (BFLP).
  • This session aims to familiarise teaching assistants (TAs) with some of the challenges that learners using EAL might face when learning in English and learning through English at the same time.
  • The session introduces practical, easy to use strategies for supporting learners using EAL to develop the language skills they need to access the curriculum and fulfil their potential.
  • The programme is specially designed for teaching assistants and support staff in secondary school settings
  • This session is being delivered in Taunton and in Bristol

Please use public transport where possible – the CLF Institute is right next to Lawrence Hill train station. There are good public transport links nearby and buses which take you outside the venue. Free parking is available on roads nearby to the Institute.

The Bell Foundation are the UK’s leading body supporting the training and development of school staff in order to improve outcomes of pupils who use EAL. The Five Counties Teaching School Hubs Alliance have been designated as the South West’s Bell Foundation Centre of Expertise and have a number of trained Bell Foundation Lead Practitioners who are experts in their field. They are able to support schools and trusts to develop their provision for pupils who use EAL and to run online and face training through the Teaching School Hub.
