EAL – Bell Foundation: Understanding Language for Learning in Multilingual Primary Schools

This interactive session is designed for those primary teachers and school staff who want or need to improve their own knowledge and understanding of language and how it works in order to support pupils who use EAL in their classroom improve their language skills
This 90 minute online session will be delivered by a trained and experienced Bell Foundation Licensed Practitioner (BFLP).
The session considers why all teachers have a responsibility to support their learners using EAL in developing the English language proficiency needed to fully access the curriculum. It looks in detail at specific aspects of language that learners who use EAL may have difficulty with and provides ideas of how to support learners in learning and using this language in order to access the curriculum and school life.
You will need a laptop with a camera and a microphone to participate and engage in this interactive session.

The Bell Foundation are the UK’s leading body supporting the training and development of school staff in order to improve outcomes of pupils who use EAL. The Five Counties Teaching School Hubs Alliance have been designated as the South West’s Bell Foundation Centre of Expertise and have a number of trained Bell Foundation Licensed Practitioners who are experts in their field. They are able to support schools and trusts to develop their provision for pupils who use EAL and to run online and face training through the Teaching School Hub.
