EAL – Bell Foundation School Needs Assessment Audit

• This needs assessment visit will be facilitated at your school by a trained and experienced Bell Foundation Lead Practitioner (BFLP) and will lead to a whole school implementation plan to support improving provision and outcomes for learners who use EAL at your school.
• The award winning Bell Foundation Needs Assessment aims to provide schools with a comprehensive evaluation of their provision for learners using EAL.
• This is a highly collaborative process in which the school will self-assess and submit evidence prior to a one-day visit from a Licensed Practitioner.
• During the visit, the Licensed Practitioner will evaluate aspects of the provision, as agreed, through a programme including learning walks, observations, meetings, focus groups and examining data and other information available.
• The visit will lead to an agreed implementation plan that outlines a realistic set of priorities for the school, together with suggestions for CPD, guidance and other interventions to support the school in achieving it.

The Bell Foundation are the UK’s leading body supporting the training and development of school staff in order to improve outcomes of pupils who use EAL. The Five Counties Teaching School Hubs Alliance have been designated as the South West’s Bell Foundation Centre of Expertise and have a number of trained Bell Foundation Lead Practitioners who are experts in their field. They are able to support schools and trusts to develop their provision for pupils who use EAL and to run online and face training through the Teaching School Hub.
