Somerset and the South West talks (Oracy Project)

The Five Counties Teaching School Hub Alliance are delighted to launch a professional development opportunity for Primary schools across Somerset and beyond. The aim of this programme is to improve school expertise in teaching Oracy, therefore enhancing learning and improving life chances for children across Somerset. The recent all party parliamentary enquiry ‘Speak for Change’ reported that key areas of impact for improved Oracy teaching includes academic performance, tackling social disadvantage, transitions, well-being, citizenship and empowerment. This is a yearlong programme beginning in March 2023. The content and structure is based on academic research and evidence, giving schools the opportunity to implement and embed excellent practice in teaching Oracy.
